Abstract

The following topics will be discussed:- Time delay of radar echoes- Geodetic precession- Lense-Thirring effect- Gravitational waves (their detection and applications)- Binary pulsar- Schwarzschild black holes- Kerr solution

Objective

An objective of the course is that students should be able to understand the latest developments in the field of general relativity, for instance by reading and understanding the current literature. This way they would also have the needed tools to write a master thesis in the field of general relativity, for instance in gravitational waves or in other relevant topics of it.
