Nonlinear Wave Equations with Applications to General Relativity
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 16:22:19
Abstract
Introduction to linear and nonlinear wave equations, aspects of Lorentzian geometry and the Einstein equations in general relativity.
Objective
In the first part of the course, the basics of linear wave equations on Minkowski space are covered. We then go beyond to nonlinear equations as well as to curved backgrounds. To this end, the relevant background from Lorentzian geometry is introduced. The ultimate goal is to rigorously study dynamics of the Einstein equations of general relativity.
