Precision Medicine

Abstract
Precision Medicine is a new approach in health care aiming to deliver personalized prevention and treatment for human diseases, by taking into account individual differences in lifestyle, environment, and biology.
Objective
After taking this course, participants will be able - to describe the goal of precision medicine; - to explain different next-generation sequencing technologies; - to illustrate how to make good use of public biological/clinical repositories; - to demonstrate basic concepts of big data and machine learning; - to explain how to genotype biological samples for a genetic disease; - to describe examples of complicated ethical or clinical situations in personalized medicine.
