Modern Study Concepts

Abstract
In the course, participants are introduced to established study designs and study elements, as well as to modern study concepts and observational designs to address clinical questions. Another focus is on patient perspectives and patient preference studies.
Objective
After taking this course, participants will be able - to identify and describe the most common study designs in observational Phase IV drug safety research; - to discuss the strengths and limitations of each design; - to differentiate between different types of real-world healthcare databases, and explain the key differences between different databases that are important when selecting the right data for a research question; - to identify and describe advanced study designs in observational research; - to explain the advantages and disadvantages of these designs, and to identify what research questions are most suited to the advanced research questions; - to identify and overcome different sources of bias; - to describe the difference between including versus involving patient and family stakeholders in research studies Identify ways to involve patient stakeholders into research.
