Biomechanik I
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 16:23:29
Abstract
Introduction to engineering mechanics with applications in biology and medicine: kinematics and statics of rigid bodies and systems. Basic introduction to deformation and failure of materials under load.
Objective
Students can solve problems of elementary engineering mechanics, and understand how these are relevant to biology and medicine.
Content
Basic notions: position and velocity of particles, rigid bodies, planar motion, kinematics of rigid body, force, couple, power. Statics: static equivalence, force-couple system, center of forces, centroid, principle of virtual power, equilibrium, constraints, statics, friction. Effects of mechanical load, and material stresses and deformation in tension, compression, bending, and torsion.
