Adaption of plants to extreme habitats. Characteristics of the plant cell. Angiosperm reproduction. Seed and fruit development. Seed germination.
Objective
To acquire the ability to prepare a plant specimen for light microscopy, to work with the microscope and to make anatomical drawings. Recognising relations between the structure and function of plant organs, tissues and cells.
Content
Introduction to the light-microscopy: Preparation, methods of microscopy (brightfield, darkfield, phase contrast) and documentation (drawing and measuring). Organography, histology and cytology of seed plants. Eco-morphology: Adaptation of plants to extreme site conditions.
