Abstract
Design in virtual space -360° Reality to Virtuality (052-0523-00L) meets 3D Scanning & Modelling (052-0521-00L)
Objective
The goal is to 3D-scan an existing space and use it in VR as a context for further design. First, we learn the tools; then we work on an architectural VR-project; at the end of the course, we present the works in our exhibition space in HIL F. Every student gets Oculus Quest VR-Headset to work with at home during the semester.
Content
We focus on virtual reality design process and create our own spaces using VR-headsets. We hope that this new technologies will change the design of architecture in the near future and will influence the learning process at ETH as well. Each student will be charged with 200 chf deposit for the VR-Headset 2 Weeks before the beginning of the course. The deposit has to be paid the latest 2 weeks before the beginning of the course. It will be paid back after the return of the Headset (it has to be returned until Monday, 19.12.2022). In case of loss or damage that is uncovered by the warranty the student has to cover the equipment cost 510chf (minus 200chf deposit).
