Abstract
Introduction to the history and theory of garden design and landscape architecture. Analysis of the design of historical gardens and landscapes within the cultural background.
Objective
The course covers the basic history and theory of garden design and landscape architecture from its beginnings to the 21th century. The course aims to raise awareness of a changing perception of nature and landscape.
Content
The lecture series on “History and Theory of Garden Design and Landscape Architecture” deals with the historical development of designed nature, from the beginnings of cultural landscapes and gardens to 21th century landscape architecture. In the analysis of each era, the focus is on the spatial and cultural relationship between the garden, the city and the landscape, as well as the changing perceptions of nature and its representation.
