Content

Sustainability: Histories and Theories - Sustainability is the imperative of our tiine. Yet it is intrinsically historical, and efficiency as weil as reuse relate directly to the history of architecture. This course addresses concepts of sustainability and reuse from Aide Rossi's permanence to Stewart Brand's "How buildirigs learn"; and · it critically examines contemporary tendencies in sustainable building, touching on such issues as Semper's garment theory and insulation, efficient heating in past times, and the aesthetic relevance of reuse and local sourcing of materials:
