Abstract
Basic knowledge of enzymology, in particular the structure, kinetics and chemistry of enzyme-catalysed reaction in vitro and in vivo. Biochemistry of metabolism: Those completing the course are able to describe and understand fundamental cellular metabolic processes.
Objective
In this self-study course, the students will gain solid biochemical knowledge about enzymology, membrane biochemistry, and central metabolism.

Program Introduction, basics, composition of cells, biochemical units, Structure and function of proteins Enzymes and enzyme kinetics Carbohydrates Lipids and biological membranes Cellular metabolism: Glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, pentose phosphate pathway, glycogen metabolism, citric acid cycle, electron transport and ATP synthesis
