Abstract

Enhance understanding for the load bearing of wall and plate structures. Impart basic principles of elastic stress distribution and give perspectives for problem solving procedures. Extend the theory of plasticity to wall and plate structures and apply simple solving procedures.

Content

Wall and plate structures, in each case analytical elastic solutions and numerical approximations by finite elements; lower bound method of plasticity (stress fields and moment fields), kinematic method (yield line and hinge mechanisms).
