Last Updated: 2026-02-05 14:55:25

Content

The seminar engages in recent and current developments of Swiss urban and spatial planning. The course first focuses on their theoretical and historical foundations. Which theoretical concepts are, and were, employed? Which are the main problems and peculiarities of planning in Switzerland? The seminar’s second primary feature are case studies, in which the students work on the semester’s specific topic such as mobility, planning policy or suburbanization. These case studies allow for a deeper and more extended knowledge. The accompanying debates with invited specialists as well as the comparison with other case studies leads to a further enhancement of the student‘s understanding of the interactions between planning and the Swiss context.
