Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 15:35:02
Abstract
Planners need to make decisions about the best possible mix of land uses. With increasing availability of spatial databases and the analytical capabilities of GIS, more effective decision support systems can be developed. The goal of the course is to provide the basics of spatial analysis and to teach the integration of spatial data into multicriteria decision-making systems.
Objective
This course will: 1) introduce students to techniques and issues associated with spatial modeling and decision support systems, including analytical techniques that are unique to spatial analysis 2) provide hands-on training in the use of these spatial tools in R while addressing real planning problems. The emphasis is on concepts, resources, and analysis tools that students can use in science, private companies and government careers.
