Abstract
The overall goal of this course is to provide general knowledge about the behaviour, housing and welfare of domestic animals.
Objective
Students will: - Understand the basis of animal behaviour and how it is measured - Acquire knowledge of housing systems and management of domestic animals - Get a concept of animal needs and welfare
Content
Inhalte: VERHALTEN • Grundlagen des Tierverhaltens: Mechanismus, Entwicklung, Funktion und Evolution • Überblick über das natürliche Verhalten ausgewählter Nutztierarten, mit dem Ziel daraus entstehende Bedürfnisse abzuleiten • erste Einblicke in Verhaltensstudien TIERHALTUNG • Grundlagen der Tierhaltung: Überblick über ausgewählte Haltungssystemen • Einblicke in den Prozess des Tiertransports und der Schlachtung VERHALTEN – TIERHALTUNG • Anpassung des Haltungssystem an die Bedürfnisse der gehaltenen Tierarten • verbreitete Probleme der Nutztierhaltung • Konzept des Tierwohls Beurteilung: 1 schriftliche Prüfung, 1 schriftlicher Bericht
