Abstract

Aquatic community of lentic and lotic waters and their adapations to chemical and physical parameters in freshwater habitats and oceans.

Objective

Erfassung der physiologischen, morphologischen und verhaltensmässigen Anpassungen der Organismen an die spezifischen Oekofaktoren des Wassers.

Content

Definition of aquatic habitats (oceans, lakes, ponds, wetland, springs, streams and rivers) Adaptation of organisms to specific physical characterisitcs in aquatic ecosystems (light, temperature, water movement, tides, viscosity of water) Adaptations to limiting nutrients, Oxygen content and pH - variations Adaptations to Salinity.
