Abstract

The seminar investigates the potential and the limitations of architectural criticism. The course comprises theoretical reflection, discussions of architectural objects, as well as work on texts.

Objective

The aim of the seminar is to develop the basics of feminist architectural theory and to apply it in joint field research. Students are therefore expected to take on different research tasks and a short presentation of the research results for the group as well as a series of text contributions.

Content

There are a number of "women spaces" that are built and designed to both protect and exclude them from patriarchal society. Together we will examine these places and develop a critical vocabulary, in order to reflect their meaning and benefits and to gain an independent position about the subject.

Resources

Lecture Notes

Will be handed out at the beginning of the semester.
