Abstract

The course Model and Design teaches architectural model building in an explorative way trough systematic experiments and the development of corresponding methods in design.

Objective

The primary pursuit is an in depth study of three dimensional form, color, material and composition along with the practical development of your own technical and artistic competences.

Content

In the first part of the semester we are going to explore a variety of materials and techniques, both typical and atypical for architectural model building. Equipped with the knowledge gained during the first phase we'll go ahead and try to put all of that experience into use during the final build. With this final build we reflect on basic design topics like, the initial intent, color, material, composition and construction in order to understand the sensual role of the model considering its sculptural properties.
