Abstract
Building on course Chinese III the students will learn to actively master a vocabulary of 600 words. In addition, the course will teach some of the basic grammatical patterns. Exercises in spoken Chinese covering a number of topics are also part of the course-work. The course aims at preparing the participants to reach level 3 of the new HSK.
Objective
The course has the following aims: the participants shall acquire an advanced competence in the field of speaking, listening, reading and writing. They will build up a number of key characters, so that 600 words should be actively mastered by the end of the semester. Exercises in basic grammatical forms shall give a first understanding of modern Chinese syntax. All the lessons will contain a fair share of conversational practice.
Content
Neue erworbene Sprachkompetenzen: Fähigkeit, einen kurzen Text zu verfassen, oder ein entsprechendes Portfolio zu erstellen. Erweiterung der Lesefähigkeit, sowohl was die lexikalische als auch was die grammatikalische Kompetenz angeht. Schriftzeichen, die durch Hinweis entstanden sind 指事字; Schriftzeichen, die durch Ausweitung entstanden sind 会意字. Im Laufe von Chinesisch IV kommen noch ca. 150 lexikalische Einheiten hinzu. Die Fähigkeit, selbständig den Wortschatz zu erweitern, wird vertieft, z. B. durch neue Zusammensetzungen auf der Basis der schon bekannten Schriftzeichen. Zudem werden alle lexikalischen Einheiten der HSK 3 Prüfung und ihre grammatikalischen Anwendungen geübt.

Literature
We shall base out work on the following textbook: Standard Course HSK, vol. 3. Textbook and Workbook, ISBN: 978-7-5619-3818-8/ 978-7-5619-3815-7 Beijing 2015. (Lektion 11-20). The course will be supported by a module on OLAT. The participants will be asked to do some of their tasks on OLAT.
