Abstract

Identification and characterization of important sedimentary, magmatic and metamorphic rocks and discussion of their genesis in a well-constrained geological time frame.

Objective

Understanding of the geological significance of sedimentary, magmatic and metamorphic rocks. Documentation of stratigraphic logs and handling of rock samples.

Content

Field-observations (5-6 days) on basement and volcano-sedimentary cover rocks in the Southern Alps (eastern Lombardy). Analysis, documentation and interpretation of metamorphic (gneiss, schists) and magmatic (volcanic) rocks and sedimentary successions (conglomerates, sandstones, pelites, carbonates). Discussion of metamorphic and magmatic Processes as well as of the depositional environments of clastic and carbonate sediments of Permian and Triassic age.
