Content

An overview on the most important aspects of magnetism and its applications is given. After the basic concepts, the course discusses magnetization curves, magnetic domains and domain walls, with emphasis on topics which connect to todays research themes. Some of the most prominent among these are ultrathin magnetic films and multilayers, exchange coupling and magnetoresistance, as well as technologial applications in magnetic data storage.
