Abstract
Physical insight into distant astronomical objects can only be gained by remote observation. For this purpose astronomers develop and build instruments and telescopes, observe the desired objects and compare the obtained data with theoretical models. This 'Praktikum' intends to introduce the typical work of astronomers. Correspondingly, it consists of an interesting mix of theory, data reduction and instrumentation.
Objective
- learn how to gain physical insight into distant astronomical objects - get acquainted with the theoretical and instrumental working methods of astronomers - visit a professional observatory
