Objective

Understanding the principles of tree species choice and mixtures, significance and limits of modern, goal-oriented forest renewal in comparison to earlier forms of forest regeneration. Consequences for operation planning.

Content

General Topic: Plantation Forest Renewal. Basic principles and methods of artificial stand establishment. Establishment Techniques. Lecture: The principles of tree species choice and mixture design. The basics of artificial stand regeneration: acqui-sition of planting materials, planting distances and techniques. The principles of silvicultural planning. Exercises: Fundamentals of silviculture as well as taking first decisions in the silvicultural planning of a specific for-est enterprise. Preparatory stage of management plan.
