Objective

Knowledge of the properties of active microwave semiconductor devices and their applications in hybrid and monolithic integrated microwave circuits.

Content

Physics and electrical properties of active microwave semiconductor devices: bipolar transistor, heterobipolar transistor, GaAs field effect transitor and HEMT (high electron mobility transistor). Microwave communication circuits: amplifiers, oscillators, synthesizers. Monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC). Lab experiments: (1) computer aided design of linear and nonlinear microwave circuits. (2) Microwave measurement technology.
