Abstract
Media Psychology examines the experience and behaviour of humans in relation to the use of media. In media effects research the circumstances of media use are focussed which lead to risks or benefits for individuals and the society. The lecture goes more deeply into some specific problems like media addiction, media and violence, intimacy and public sphere, learning and the media, media literacy.
Objective
The students learn to know the important theories and empirical results of media psychology research. They analyse their own media behavior. They know the circumstances of media production. They are able to analyse media contents in a systematic way. They learn to know the role of media in their field of future practice.
Content
Introduction to Media Psychology. Examples of research and exercises on: Uses and effects of media. Media addiction, media and violence, intimacy and public sphere, learning and the media, media literacy. Each student will complish a little investigation in one of the specific fields.
