Organogenesis
Last Updated: 2026-02-05 14:57:02
Objective
This interdisciplinary and interactive course is dedicated to the following questions: - How are cells interacting and communicating with other cells and the extracellular matrix to form a tissue? - How do tissues build up an organ? These fundamental processes in life sciences are crucial in the development, regeneration, and maintenance of vertebrates. Basic mechanisms and experimental strategies are discussed, including stem cell biology, cell fate determination, and cell differentiation. Learning to formulate an appropriate hypothesis and training of the ability to ask relevant questions in a scientific project is especially emphasized. Ongoing research and recently published papers provide the basis for this course which is intended to prepare the participants for future work in molecular and cellular biology (with some particular focus on the function and diseases of the nervous system).
