Abstract

Introduction to the experimental methods of Inorganic Chemistry

Objective

Einführung in die experimentellen Methoden der Anorganischen Chemie.

Content

Inorganic chemistry: Synthesis and analysis of metal complexes, synthesis of elementary organic compounds (introduction to the Schlenk technique), organo-metallic chemistry (cyclopentadienyl, olefin and *6 aren complexes), carbonyl complexes / hydrides, organic synthesis with organo-metallic compounds and catalysts, solid state synthesis. Experiments in the framework of a selected specialised project. A selection of possible projects is given here: 1. Synthesis of enamides and Rh catalysed asymmetric hydrogenation. 2. Synthesis of olefins and Mn catalysed epoxidation. 3. Cu catalysed Diels-Alder Reaction. 4. Synthesis of organo-boron compounds and Pd catalysed coupling with halides. 5. Ru catalysed olefine metathesis (ring-closing). 6. Synthesis using ansa-metalocenes and polymerisation. 7. Ru catalysed transfer hydrogenation. 8. Synthesis of cyclopentenones by means of Ti catalysed Pauson-Khan reaction.
