Complexes of the transition metals: structure, bonding, spectroscopic properties, and synthesis.

Verständnis des chemisch relevanten Aufbauprinzips und der chemischen Bindung für unterschiedliche Typen von Verbindungsklassen.
Content
General definitions for the description of solid state structures (crystal systems, lattice types), sphere packing, structures of metals, lattice energy, AB and AB2 structure types, bonding with complex ions, ion-radius ratio, layered structures, defects in materials, selected qualities of solids. Co-ordination number and polyhedron in molecules, VSEPR model, qualitative MO and Walsh diagrams for the description of main group element compounds, simple molecular dynamic phenomena (inversion and pseudorotation), co-ordination number and isomerism in transition metal compounds, ligand field theory and qualitative MO diagrams for describing the structure of transition metal complexes.
