Abstract

Participants will learn the essentials of remote monitoring and the use of other digital health technologies in clinical trials. This includes key technology, selection of devices, integration into trials, and subsequent data management. Concepts and devices will be presented, and participants have the chance to learn about challenges with hands-on workshops and direct interactions with experts.

Objective

The course enables participants to... 1. describe the principles of remote monitoring 2. understand essential concepts of sensor integration into clinical trials 3. explain the opportunities and risks of the implementation of mobile sensor data in research and clinical routine 3. explain the management, processing, and storage of electronic data 4. set-up a data management plan 5. scout and assess different technologies for particular research interests 6. understand the requirements, challenges and opportunities associated with guiding/educating patients to use and comply with remote monitoring 7. outline the potential and limitations of closed feedback loops between patients and physicians based on remote monitoring for therapy decision support (for example titration, diagnostics, remote intervention etc.)
