The lecture gives an introduction to the fundamentals of energy conversion processes and presents the main technologies for heat and power production and for energy savings. The thermodynamic limits of efficiencies as well as improvements by new technologies are presented. Further, the environmental impacts of energy processes and measures for pollutant reduction are presented.
