Students are able to understand some basic economic problems related to their core studies, like investment problems, monopoly and patents, environmental issues.

Within the colloquium current research papers in the area of behavioral studies are presented. Student participants gain insight into practical research in social sciences and write an own paper on one of the topics presented in the colloquium.

Seminar on selected and topical issues of international development and cooperation (students give presentations of papers or book chapters).

Students understand definitions and economic assesment procedures of risk. They judge risk defusing strategies. Applications to various fields, especially environmental risks

This course covers the bases for understanding micro- and macroeconomic issues and theories. Participants are given the tools to argue in economic and political terms and to evaluate the corresponding measures. Group and individual exercises deepen the knowledge gained.

Questions and argumentations from energy economics, investment calculus, uncertainty, discounting, natural monopolies, detailed analysis of energy supply and demand, discussion of political instrument on national and global level.

Introduction to economic theories of the environment, analysis of externalities and possibilities of internalization, knowledge of efficiency and consequences of important instruments of environmental policies, analysis on national and global level, global climate policy.

This course conveys the fundamental principles of micro- and macroeconomic problems and theories. The students are empowered to build convincing arguments in the area of political economy and to judge the respective policy measures.

Students understand problems and theories of resource exploitation and environmental issuses. They judge policy recommendations.
