Kognitive functions, learning & memory: molecular & cellular mechanisms, animal models. Physiology of movement control: motor unit, neuromuscular transmission, reflexes, rhythmic and arbitrary movements. Diseases of the NS.

Development and function of the nervous system. The machinery and functional mechanisms of the brain that enable us to learn, including some specific computation theories. Basic concepts and methods in behavioural neurobiology, including the brain’s regulation of emotion and cognition, and the contribution of environment and genotype to brain-behaviour function and psychiatric diseases.

Consolidation of practical work in the lab with theory and literature background. Integraion of the students in ongoing research projects in the field of neuromorphology (regeneration and plasticity of the nervous system, molekular mechanisms of axonal growth, neural stem cells) and molecular cognition (genetic mouse models, molekular and cellular mechanisms of learning and memory).
