This course presents an overview of the physics of ice. Starting from crystallography, we explore the thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties of ice, the different phases of ice and the thermodynamics of the phase transitions.
This course offers an overview of geophysical inverse methods with particular attention to applications in glaciology. We will discuss several approaches, including data fitting within certain tolerances under additional conditions; and the application of Bayes theorem. The theory is illustrated with the use of examples from glaciology.
