In the doctoral course, we will discuss recent advances in public economics. After a review of basic concepts in public economics, we go through recent papers on taxation, social security and fiscal federalism. Students will be asked to present a paper and to critically comment on it (as if they would referee the paper). The paper presentation will take place at the end of the semester.
