This lecture introduces the subject of Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and the importance of human/user-centered computing. It provides a survey of the fundamental history, paradigms, and techniques of human-computer interaction. The class also offers rudimentary hands-on experience in employing evaluation, design, and prototyping techniques commonly used in HCI research and practice.
Ubiquitous computing integrates tiny wirelessly connected computers and sensors into the environment and everyday objects. Main topics: The vision of ubiquitous computing, trends in technology, smart cards, RFID, Bluetooth, sensor networks, location awareness, application areas and business issues, privacy.
Wireless Sensor Networks
Drahtlose Sensornetze
Sensor networks are collections of countless miniature "sensor nodes" that allow measuring real-world phenomenons, and communicating those measurements to other nodes or to the outside of the network. The lecture teaches core concepts (hardware, operating systems, communication), basic services (time synchronization, localization, sensor calibration), and advanced topics (deployment, security).
