Abstract

Introduction to bioprocesses: characteristics, principles, aims and examples.

Objective

Understanding the basis of biological and process technological principles in biotechnology.

Content

Stoichiometry of cellular and fermentation processes; principles of mathematical modelling; metabolic pathways and their regulation, mass and energy balances; dimensionless numbers; bioprocess instrumentation; growth kinetics; bioreactor design, mixing, aeration, and dynmaics; downstream processing.
