Abstract

Electron spectroscopies are key players for the investigation ofcondensed matter. The lecture is addressed to experimental physicistsand develops the basic concept of Electron Spectroscopies.

Objective

- Get familiar with the vocabulary of "Electron spectroscopies", e.g. what is the Gamma point? - Understand essential concepts, e.g. what is a pump probe experiment? - Know the methods, e.g. waht is AES?

Content

- Electron Detectors & Analyzers - Light sources for photoemission - X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) - X-ray photoelectron diffraction (XPD) - Angular resolved photoelectron spectroscopy - Spin resolved photoelectron spectroscopy - Time resolved (femtosecond) Photoelectron spectroscopy - Scanning tunneling spectroscopy - Exoemission
