Hydrogeological Field Course
Last Updated: 2026-06-04 00:12:08
Abstract
The course covers hydrogeological investigation methods in unconsolidated sediments (theory only) and fractured rock. Application in hard/fractured rock. Focus on aquitard well tests using a double packer. Estimation of natural hydraulic heads. The students have to sample, display, evaluate and assess own data and write a report. --10-19 June, 11-18 June @Mels
Objective
- Being able to choose an appropriate investigation method - Acquire own experiences in handling typical instruments - Understand the theoretical background field investigation methods - Master typical data presentation and evaluation methods - Being to assess the quality, significance of obtained results - Understand theoretical and practical limitations.
Content
- Aquifer/aquitard well tests: constant pressure, fall-off and build-up, slug, pulse tests in packer intervals - Hydraulic head profiling (natural head conditions) - The following is NOT confirmed for 2026: Step rate pumping, cross-hole tests, open hole slug & bail (pneumatic and bailer techniques, tracer tests
