Abstract
Category theory has developed rapidely. This lecture aims to present those ideas and methods that can now be effectively used by mathematicians working in a variety of other fields of mathematics.
Objective
Categories provide a convenient conceptual language , based on the notions of functor, natural transformation, contravariance, ... These notions are presented with appropriate examples. Next comes the fundamental idea of an adjoint pair of functors. At the end we introduce the notion of Tannaka category.
