The module provides a solid introduction to integrated technology assessment with regard to economic, ecological and social criteria. It introduces life cycle assessment (LCA), cost assessment, risk assessment and multi-criteria decision analysis. It also presents overarching scenario development techniques; and quantification of scenarios using energy-economic models with systemic aspects.
Prospective Life Cycle Assessment (pLCA) attempts to model the economic and environmental impact of future possible worlds. Its focus can range from broad scenarios for societal transformation to specific emerging technologies.
This 5-day Autumn School, held from Oct. 24-28 in Grosshochstetten, will be on the use of open source software to supplement, modify, disaggregate, and time-shift life cycle inventory data. Students will have 5-6 teaching modules and a then work with an assistant on a group project.As it is held in a seminar hotel, there is a fee for this course.
