This lectures gives an introduction into the field of nonlinear optical spectroscopy. Physical principles are explained and important applications, e.g. in the domain of THz spectroscopy, are discussed.

The lecture provides an introduction to the fascinating field of Nonlinear Optics. It is shown how light waves can interact in certain materials. The relevant effects as well as the structure and the properties of the required materials and a selection of applications (optolectronics, optical signal processing) will be treated.
