Abstract

Programming with MATLAB, including data processing and visualization, applied to measurements commonly used in Human Movement Sciences (kinematics, kinetics, muscle activity, etc.)

Objective

Students acquire the ability to import, process, and plot data typical for human movement sciences using the MATLAB computing environment. Students deepen and expand their MATLAB knowledge and programming skills in an independent project during the semester.

Content

- Possibilities and advantages of MATLAB; basics of programming with MATLAB - Data types and data parsing; import and saving of several data formats - Plotting and visualization of data and signals; - Functions - Data processing: removing of an offset and filtering of data; normalization and parametrization of data - Debugging; coding efficiency; profiling; parallel computing - Integration and combination of Python and MATLAB

Resources

Literature

During the lecture, several introductory tutorials and guides for MATLAB will be highlighted or made electronically available. Course-specific scripts will be provided by the lecturers.
